How to eat, drink, swim and be merry in Manly

Here’s seven of our favourite places to eat, drink and celebrate Manly

We thought it was a good time to also share our favourite ways for eating, drinking and being merry in one of Australia’s most iconic beachside suburbs.

Whilst Manly’s public beach is iconic in its own right - a northern Sydney coastal paradise where surfers and local celebrities flock en masse - the beach is not it’s only major draw card. The suburb boasts one of the best shopping and dining strips, coastal nature strolls and hidden sea pools etched in sandstone cliffs.

Here’s seven of our favourite places to eat, drink and celebrate one of the city’s best day trips out of Circular Quay:

Shop the Corso

Manly Wharf, where our Hop On Hop Off Harbour Explorer lets off our guests, is linked to the main beach by the famous Manly Corso. This iconic pedestrian mall is lined with retail stores, bars and restaurants - but it’s also a melting pot of local musicians and street performers entertaining locals and tourists.

Manly to Spit Walk

The 10km Manly to Spit Bridge Coastal walk unravels through a breathtaking range of scenery including dramatic sandstone cliffs and bushland wedged up against harbourside mansions. Depending on your fitness, one-way will take you about 3 hours and 45 minutes.

The Wormhole

While it might sound like a portal to another dimension, the Wormhole is in fact a little tunnel at the north end of Manly Beach linking Queenscliff and Freshwater. It was carved out by local fishermen decades ago and today is an Instagram photography magnet, it's all for the 'Gram!

Fairy Bower Sea Pool

As you head towards Shelly beach along Marine Parade you’ll quickly stumble across Fairy Bower - a 20 metre rockpool built by local residents in 1929. The triangular shaped pool is a calm alternative to the waves at Manly beach and is the perfect spot for an afternoon of sunbathing.

Manly Greenhouse

Manly Greenhouse is the newest and hippest waterfront venue to hit the sunny shores of this leafy northern Sydney suburb. Formerly the old Shore Club Hotel, the Manly Greenhouse is spread over three levels including a rooftop bar with the best ocean views in the northern beaches.

Hotel Steyne

You can’t come to Manly Beach without having a schooner at The Steyne. The pub opposite the beach is a local institution and has been sitting proudly on this Corso waterfront corner since 1859.

Hugo’s

Positioned right on Manly Wharf, watch as our Hop On Hop Off vessels roll into this picturesque setting. Hugo’s is a relaxed yet upmarket spot for a romantic summer evening, a casual dinner with family or a cutting edge cocktail with an award winning bartending team.
